 Dear LSAMP Colleague, The LSAMP Alaska Alliance has been selected as a recruiter for a USFWS Direct Hire internship program. This means that we have the opportunity to place 95 LSAMP students into summer internships that will lead to direct placement in permanent professional positions with the USFWS. The internships are located in 29 States and Puerto Rico. Most of the opportunities are in person but there are a few that are available through telework. The internships focus on biological sciences and natural resources as well as education, outreach, social sciences, humanities, geographic and information sciences, law enforcement, criminal justice, communications, marketing, and information technology. After the internship is complete, students receive direct hire authority for a permanent position with the USFWS. Here are the qualifications: Current students: Undergraduate rising seniors, seniors; enrolled or current graduate students US citizen or permanent residentMust be 17 years of age or older Cumulative GPA must be 3.0 or higher Must be available for 12 weeks during summer 2022 (1 week of orientation plus 11-week internship) Must be able to pass a criminal background checkMales born after 1959 must be registered with the Selective Service Students can learn more about specific opportunities and apply at: https://www.ansep.net/dfp/ The application deadline date is January 7, 2022.
